  1. Customer: Hi, we’re after a quote for an EV charger at home.

  2. Lumen & Line Electrical assistant: Lumen & Line installs home EV chargers. Is it a house or an apartment?

Demo note: this answer uses the business’s Services

  3. Customer: House, with a carport. The switchboard’s in the laundry, maybe 10 metres away.

  4. Lumen & Line Electrical assistant: That’s helpful. When’s the best time for Priya to call you about a quote?

  5. Customer: Weekdays after 5. I’m Tom, on mobile number (hidden in this example)

  6. Lumen & Line Electrical assistant: Thanks, Tom. I’ve passed the details to Priya so she can call you after 5.

  7. Demo note: Lead saved for Priya. Priya takes it from here

The problem

“Can you give me a quote?” isn’t enough to go on

Before you can price anything, you need to know if it’s a two-bedroom unit or a double-storey house, what’s there now and where the switchboard is. That’s a lot of back-and-forth for a job you might not win, and it usually happens in the evening, after a full day on site.

“We’re renovating and want downlights in the living room, plus a pendant over the dining table.”
An example first message. ChatLead replies straight away, then asks what Priya would need to know.

Enquiry scenarios

Three electrician enquiries, and how ChatLead handles each one

  1. 01

    New lighting for a renovation

A homeowner is renovating their living room and wants downlights, plus a pendant over the dining table.

    What ChatLead covers

    • Which rooms, and roughly how many lights
    • What’s there now, and whether there’s roof space above
    • Single or double storey
    • When the renovation needs an electrician

    What you get

You can price it or book a site visit with the basics already covered.

  2. 02

    A home EV charger

A new EV owner wants a charger installed at home and has no idea what’s involved.

    What ChatLead covers

    • House or apartment, and where the car parks
    • Where the switchboard is, and roughly how far away
    • Whether they already have a charger in mind
    • The best time to call about a quote

    What you get

You know whether it looks like a straightforward install or needs a site visit before you ring.

  3. 03

An inspection before buying or renting out

A buyer needs an electrical inspection before settlement, and the date is getting close.

    What ChatLead covers

    • What type of inspection, and why
    • Property type, age if known, and number of bedrooms
    • Who will provide access
    • Any deadline, like a settlement date

    What you get

You get the deadline and the access details up front, instead of discovering them on the callback.

When they call instead

Calls answered while you’re in the ceiling

You can’t take a call halfway through a rewire. ChatLead answers as Lumen & Line, collects the job and property details, and texts you a summary to read when you’re back on the ground.

  • It asks about the job, the property and the timing, one question at a time.
  • You can tell it never to give electrical advice, and to put urgent faults through to you.
  • The caller is saved as a lead, with the full call transcript in your dashboard.

You keep your number and forward calls to ChatLead. Phone numbers are available for businesses in Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Questions

Questions about ChatLead for electricians

Will ChatLead give customers electrical advice?

You set its instructions, and we recommend it doesn’t. Tell ChatLead never to give troubleshooting steps and to point anyone with an urgent or dangerous fault to your phone number. It still saves their details so you can follow up.

Can it collect details for EV charger quotes?

Yes. Add the details you need to your assistant’s instructions, such as property type, where the car parks and where the switchboard is, and ChatLead asks for them one question at a time.

Can customers send photos of their switchboard?

Not through ChatLead’s chat. It collects written details, and you can ask for photos when you call back.

Can it book inspections?

No. ChatLead doesn’t book appointments or show your availability. It records the times that suit the customer and any deadline, and you confirm the booking.

Where do the enquiries go?

Each one is saved as a lead in your ChatLead dashboard, with the customer’s contact details and what they need. Website conversations and call transcripts are saved too, so you can see exactly what was said before you call back.

Will it work with my website?

ChatLead adds a chat window to your site with one short snippet of code. The dashboard has instructions for WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify and other common platforms, and the chat window shows your business name and colour.

Can ChatLead answer my phone as well?

Yes. You keep your existing number and forward calls to your ChatLead number, for example only when you can’t pick up. ChatLead answers with your greeting, collects the caller’s details, saves them as a lead with a transcript of the call, and can text or email you a summary. Urgent calls can be put through to a number you choose. Phone numbers are available for businesses in Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
