ChatLead for plumbers

Every leak comes with questions. Let ChatLead ask them.

ChatLead is an AI receptionist for your website and your phone. It answers customers’ questions about your services and service area, then collects the job, the suburb and the best number to call, so you can ring back with the details in front of you.

  3. Customer: Thornbury. It only leaks when the tap’s running.

The problem

Enquiries arrive while you’re mid-job

A tap that won’t stop, a hot water system on its last legs, a renovation that needs a plumber booked in. These messages have a habit of landing when your hands are full. By the time you can call back, you’re starting from scratch: where is it, what’s leaking, and how bad is it?

“Hi, our kitchen tap’s been dripping for days and now there’s water in the cupboard under the sink.”
An example first message. ChatLead replies straight away, then asks what Dan would need to know.

Enquiry scenarios

Three plumber enquiries, and how ChatLead handles each one

  1. 01

    A drip that’s turned into a leak

A customer’s kitchen tap has been dripping for a week, and now there’s water in the cupboard underneath.

    What ChatLead covers

    • Which fixture is leaking, and where the water is going
    • Whether it leaks all the time or only when the tap is on
    • Their suburb, checked against the areas you cover
    • Their name, number and a good time to call

    What you get

You call back knowing it’s a kitchen mixer in Thornbury, leaking under the sink when it runs, and that Sarah is free after 3.

  2. 02

A hot water system on its way out

Someone’s hot water has been running lukewarm and they’re wondering about a replacement.

    What ChatLead covers

    • Whether it’s gas, electric or heat pump, if they know
    • Roughly how old it is and where it’s installed
    • Whether they still have any hot water
    • How soon they need it sorted

    What you get

You can tell whether it’s an urgent call or a quote to prepare before you pick up the phone.

  3. 03

“Do you come out to my area?”

A renovator needs a plumber for a bathroom rough-in and isn’t sure you work in their suburb.

    What ChatLead covers

    • Their suburb, answered from the service area you’ve set
    • What stage the renovation is at, and when they need you
    • Whether a builder is running the job
    • The best way to get back to them

    What you get

If they’re in your area, you get a clear job to quote. If they’re not, ChatLead can tell them straight away instead of leaving them waiting.

Questions

Questions about ChatLead for plumbers

Will ChatLead quote prices for plumbing jobs?

Only if you want it to. ChatLead answers from the information you give it and is set up not to invent prices. If you’d rather price every job yourself, it collects the details and leaves quotes to you.

How does it know which suburbs I cover?

You add your service area along with your services and hours. During setup, ChatLead can suggest these from your existing website for you to check, and you can change them at any time.

What about urgent jobs, like a burst pipe?

You decide what ChatLead tells people with urgent problems, for example to call your number straight away. It still saves their details, so you have a record of the enquiry.

Can it book jobs into my calendar?

No. ChatLead doesn’t book jobs or show your availability. It collects the details and the times that suit the customer, and you confirm the booking when you call back.

Where do the enquiries go?

Each one is saved as a lead in your ChatLead dashboard, with the customer’s contact details and what they need. Website conversations and call transcripts are saved too, so you can see exactly what was said before you call back.

Will it work with my website?

ChatLead adds a chat window to your site with one short snippet of code. The dashboard has instructions for WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify and other common platforms, and the chat window shows your business name and colour.

Can ChatLead answer my phone as well?

Yes. You keep your existing number and forward calls to your ChatLead number, for example only when you can’t pick up. ChatLead answers with your greeting, collects the caller’s details, saves them as a lead with a transcript of the call, and can text or email you a summary. Urgent calls can be put through to a number you choose. Phone numbers are available for businesses in Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
