Missed calls

The phone rings when you’re on the tools

You can’t answer with a drill in your hand, and you shouldn’t answer while you’re driving. But a customer with a leak, a fault or a job to quote wants an answer now, and if nobody picks up they may ring the next tradie on the list. ChatLead answers for you, gets the details and sends them to your phone.

Where you are when it rings

  • Up a ladder
  • Under a house
  • In a roof space
  • Driving between jobs
  • Quoting another job
  • After knock-off

How it works

How call forwarding works

  1. Set up your ChatLead number

Australian businesses can set up a local phone number in the app. If your business is in the US, Canada, the UK or New Zealand, contact us about phone answering.

  2. Forward your calls

Keep your mobile or business number and forward calls to ChatLead, all the time or only when you’re busy or don’t pick up.

  3. ChatLead answers as your business

It greets callers with your business name, answers from your services, hours and service area, and asks your questions one at a time.

  4. You get the details

A text or email summary arrives as soon as the call ends, with the transcript in your dashboard. If you switch on urgent transfer, urgent calls come through to your mobile.

What it asks

It asks the questions you’d ask

Set ChatLead up as a trade or home-service business and it starts with these questions. Add your own, like the type of property or whether there’s roof access, and it asks them one at a time, skipping anything the customer has already said.

  1. What problem are you having?
  2. What suburb is the job in?
  3. Is this urgent or causing active damage?
  4. When would you like someone to attend?
  5. Plus the questions you add for your trade

After hours

After-hours call answering for tradies

Choose what happens when someone rings after knock-off. Pick one setting and change it whenever you like.

  • Answer as normal

ChatLead helps after-hours callers the same way it does during the day.

  • Take a message only

It takes the caller’s name, number and what they need, and doesn’t put calls through.

  • Put calls through

It offers to connect callers with you. If urgent transfer isn’t switched on, it takes a message instead.

  • Tell callers you’re closed

It gives your hours, asks them to call back then and ends the call.

ChatLead is an AI receptionist, not a person or an emergency service. It doesn’t send anyone out or give technical advice, and urgent calls only reach you if you switch on urgent transfer.

What you receive

Lead alerts and call summaries

  • Call summaries by text or email

Who called, what they need and a link to the transcript, as soon as the call ends.

  • Website lead alerts

Get an email or text when a website chat becomes a lead, which happens when the visitor leaves a name, number or email.

  • Urgent calls put through

Switch on urgent transfer and callers with something urgent can be put straight through to your mobile.

  • Everything in one place

Leads, call transcripts and website conversations in your dashboard, with contacts, deals and follow-up tasks.

Builders, roofers, landscapers, pest control, cleaners and other trades use the same trades setup: add your services and the questions you ask, and ChatLead works from those. Every plan has the same features. Compare plans and prices.

Questions

Questions tradies ask about ChatLead

Is a real person answering my calls?

No. ChatLead is an AI receptionist, not a person. It answers with your business name and greeting, asks your questions and passes the details to you. Anything that needs a person, like a quote, a diagnosis or a time on site, comes back to you.

Does it dispatch emergency call-outs?

No. ChatLead doesn’t send anyone out or give technical advice. If you switch on urgent transfer, urgent calls can be put through to your mobile; otherwise it takes a message and sends you a summary. What happens next is up to you.

Do I need a new phone number?

No. You keep your existing number and forward calls to your ChatLead number, all the time or only when you don’t pick up. Australian businesses can set up a local phone number in the app. If your business is in the US, Canada, the UK or New Zealand, contact us about phone answering. Contact us about phone answering.

Can it book jobs into my calendar?

No. ChatLead doesn’t book jobs or show your availability. It records the times that suit the customer, and you confirm a time when you call back.

Can customers send photos or text it?

No. ChatLead answers website chat and phone calls. It doesn’t accept photos or reply to customers’ text messages, so ask for photos when you call back.

How much does ChatLead cost?
